Capture the spirit of Tulum in a cyanotype print

Capture the essence of Tulum through cyanotype printing with me, a professional artist and printmaker, in this unique workshop. You’ll connect with your surroundings and create a one-of-a-kind memory of your journey. • Meet at Bacab Gallery, where I’ll explain the process, history and technique of cyanotype, a camera-free printing technique that uses light-sensitive salts to create striking blue images. • Arrange your collected objects—maybe a feather, flower, beach pebble, or leaf—on handmade cotton or pine paper from Veracruz. I’ll guide you through composition techniques to make the artwork. • Coat the paper with a special solution and expose it to sunlight (or UV light, if the sun isn’t cooperating) and watch the transformation as your design turns into a rich blue. After rinsing and drying it, reflect on your masterpiece. You’ll leave with a personal artwork, and recommendations for how to frame and preserve your new creation.

A guided tour will showcase the space, projects, and collective efforts that bring this mission to life. • Roll up your sleeves and make your own mark on our community gathering space with a painting, planting, or organizing project. • Once we’ve filled our hearts, we’ll free our minds with a mindfulness session designed to reconnect with our inner child. • We’ll end with a gratitude circle, where you can reflect on your experience, share your thoughts and emotions, and express thanks for the opportunity to give back to this sacred Mayan land. You’ll leave having nurtured your own well-being while supporting the educational and developmental needs of the children of Tulum.

Chichen Itza, Valladolid & Cenote

Selected as one of the New Wonders of the World, Chichen Itza is one of the most spectacular archaeological sites in the Americas and a "must see" for those interested in history and culture. Myself or my guide friends will lead you through the centuries of history and development, as well as help you understand the amazing architectcture, art and engineering integrated into the city. After Chichen Itza, we will visit a local community-run cenote for a perfect spot to get away from the crowds and cool down in the refreshing blue waters. We will then stop in Valladolid is a city where past and present come together to delight us with the sights of colored colonial architecture and tastes of an incredibly rich gastronomy. We lunch in the courtyard of a restored colonial mansion, an experience in itself, and have time to wander the main square of the center afterwards.

Discover Sian Ka'an Reserve and Mayan Canals

We will go in an adventure into the Sian Ka'an Bioshpere Reserve located 15 minutes south of Tulum. We will get immersed in the Mayan jungle and experience its liveliness and history. First we will access the Reserve through the Muyil archaeological site which is one of the oldest Mayan cities in the area. We will see the Mayan Temples and walk the jungle trails through the ruins and the lookout spot. Then we will hop on a boat and sail into the Chunyaxché lagoon through commercial routes used by the Mayans. We will then jump in a stream of clear and fresh water where we will float through the mangrove. Other things to note We are visiting a Protected Area. We'll try to contemplate nature in a respectful manner without harming the habitat. Please avoid sunscreen and repellent unless bio-compatible.
