Where you’ll be

Whanganui, Manawatu-Wanganui, New Zealand

Our historic city is a buzzing mecca for artists, so everything's low key and unique. Putiki is a central suburb, one steeped in Maori culture as just downriver is the Marae of our Tupoho iwi, and the historic St Pauls Memorial church. In just 600mm you'll find yourself on our main street where there are plenty of eating and drinking venues to enjoy, and on Saturdays our fabulous River Traders Market. You're right on the Mountains to Sea cycleway too, and 5min from the airport and the wild South Beach on our glorious West coast. While in Whanganui you mustn't miss a trip on the river, by kayak or paddle steamer, or a visit to the historic Sarjeant Gallery.

For those who want a deeper Whanganui experience, get in touch and let us arrange one on one experiences with the local Waka Ama paddlers, guided river and/ or fishing or hunting experiences, introductions to local wild foods, artists or craft makers, or walking tours of our rich Maori and European heritage.
