Other things to note
WEATHER
Due to being in the Alpine region, the cabin can experience extreme weather conditions and we will endeavour to warn guests on these occasions, but we encourage all guests to seek out and monitor the upcoming weather conditions prior to their stay, including road closures. Refunds will only be given if the property is inaccessible. We cannot 100% guarantee the use of the bath due to severe frosts or snow although measures are in place to prevent freezing. Out of order is a rarity.
Wind - At its best, the wind is not for the faint hearted, at times exceeding 100kmph. Beware not to leave any unattended belongings outside.
Snow - In previous years we have had a decent amount of snow at ground level. Snow chains are not needed to access the cube from the main highway but if travelling over the Lindis Pass (to/from Queenstown) or through Burkes Pass (to/from Christchurch) this may need organised.
Heat - The summer months get very hot and dry. The cabin has air conditioning and ceiling fans. Lake Ohau is a 5 minute drive down the road, perfect for a dip.
BATH
This bath is big. Measuring 2 metres long and 1 metre wide there is a very generous amount of space for two people. The water is heated by gas. It takes around 40 minutes to fill to a good level and stays comfortable for approximately an hour. No glass in the bath please.
WIFI
The cabin does not have Wifi for the purpose of reconnecting with your surroundings but it does have cell phone coverage which can be patchy in certain spots. A conversation on a mobile is easily had next to the lounge window and in the master bedroom, among other spots in our experience.
OTHER
The bathroom has a gorgeous full-length window for a "wilderness" feeling, so if that's not for you, then you might want to bear this in mind. The windows are, however, tinted for partial privacy and the cabin is in a rural location.
The cabin does not have any window coverings. There are some very picturesque views from every window that you won't want to miss. Waking up with the sun rise allows your body to wake up gradually in a natural process and if you do happen to wake on a clear night the spectacle of the moon and stars is well worth it!
CHECK-IN
Check-in details are provided approximately a week out from arrival.
