Beautiful area
Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Escape to a secluded cabin and wake to the roar of surf, birdsong, and breathtaking sunrises over the wild Pacific Ocean. Tucked amid native and exotic trees, with coastal views, this cosy cabin offers a true nature escape to slow down, pause, and restore. Sip a morning coffee on any of the three outdoor decks, stretch in the fresh coastal air, or unwind with a wine and BBQ under the stars beside the outdoor fireplace. Christchurch is 90mins but we prefer our 2 wild beaches, a short stroll away.
The space
We believe in keeping things simple — no added cleaning fees, just a restful stay close to nature.
Bespoke Interiors and Oceanfront Cabin:
Completed in 2025, this oceanfront cabin blends natural and repurposed materials with contemporary design, offering a secluded nature escape to unwind and recharge. Thoughtfully curated with bespoke furniture, original art, and natural finishes, the open-plan cabin (kitchenette, living, bedroom, bathroom) comfortably accommodates two adults.
Relax in the living area in the replica Eames chair, cosy up by the Little Flick fireplace, or wake to the sunrise over the Pacific Ocean from your comfortable queen bed with Egyptian cotton sheets and a feather-and-down duvet to keep you cosy.
The bathroom, open to the bedroom and living area, with a separate toilet, features a rainhead shower with sea-view window, twin stone basins, and a skylight perfect for stargazing.
Expansive Outdoor Living and Nature Escape:
Step out to the sun-drenched decks — enjoy a morning coffee, stretch, surf-check, or unwind with a wine, BBQ and toast marshmallows by the outdoor fireplace.
The clifftop viewing deck of this coastal retreat offers intimate views of Port Robinson surf break and awe-inspiring sunrises - ideal for yoga, curling up with a good book, or simply spot the seals play in the waves below.
Activities and Coastal Adventure:
Try archery on the lawn, yoga on the sea view deck, swing on the swing set or while away an evening with a board game next to the fire.
Beaches and Coastal Escape:
Just minutes from two stunning beaches: Gore bay (2 minutes drive) surf beach and bach community (with a new tennis court), and the wilder Manuka bay (2 minutes drive), our cliff top cabin offers direct access to the natural beauty of the Hurunui area.
Explore the beautiful lagoon ambience and eco-system where the Hurunui river meets the sea.
Beach and surf days on the sand at Gore Bay.
Rock scramble out to Point Gibson from Port Robinson cul-de-sac.
Hike down to Manuka Bay and follow signs to the lookout track.
Prime Coastal Location:
Nestled between Christchurch and Kaikoura, off the main highway, the cabin sits on the scenic road to sweeping Gore Bay.
Nearby Drive times:
Gore bay 2 minutes
Mānuka bay 2 minutes
Cheviot just 15 minutes.
Christchurch 90 minutes drive south.
Kaikōura 60 minutes drive north.
Waipara valley wineries 45 minutes.
Hanmer Springs Thermal Resort: 90 minutes.
Low-Tox Natural Materials
We’ve chosen natural, low-tox materials throughout — from Egyptian cotton sheets and wool-and-feather duvets to stone basins and wooden furniture — and use only eco-friendly bath and cleaning products.
Guest access
Our secluded cabin is located on a coastal 8 acre lifestyle block with some white Fallow deer which are very flighty, so please respect all closed gates.
The cliff in front of our property is extremely steep and therefore has no access to the beach below. Beach access is gained via Cathedral Road to Port Robinson (Seal colonies), Manuka Bay and Gore Bay settlement.
The adjacent house and sheds are off-limits to visitors. The grass lawn and archery field to the side of the cabin, including the swings is your space to enjoy. There is a track to an undeveloped pond area to the South of the driveway which can be explored.
Other things to note
We cannot wait to share with you the best our hidden slice of the coast has to offer.
Please note there is no microwave or oven. Instead there is a Weber bbq and a 2 burner gas hob.
Not all windows have curtains or blinds.
There is a drive in front of the cabin, but this is not used.
