Situated on the water's edge with two private beach accesses, this unique, quiet haven is all you need for a relaxing back-to-nature retreat.
Take your pick of views from the decks - whether it's watching marine activity on the harbour, stunning sunsets or the majestic Mt Aubrey.
An outdoor fireplace/bbq and spa add to the ambience, and you might be lucky enough to hear kiwi and morepork calls. Also, a fisherman's paradise with direct water access and boat ramp 100mtres away!

The space
A Lockwood three-bedroom beach house situated on a level site, right on the water's edge at Reotahi Bay, Whangārei Heads, NZ.

With two seawalls and two very private beach accesses, this unique quiet haven is nestled in an open bush-like setting one side, partially under the canopy of a gorgeous, ancient pohutakawa, whose boughs sweep in and out of the water.

The front verandah, viewing Mt Aubrey, flows around the other side of the house to harbour-view side decks. Whilst another small quiet deck is outside a 'She Shed'. All have lovely views, especially at sunset. The harbour side deck has fixed seating edge beside an outdoor fireplace/bbq and a spa, plus easy wide steps down to small lawns then the beach. From here, as well as from the lounge, conservatory and two main bedrooms, you are able to enjoy watching all boating/shipping activity, plus marine and bush wildlife, including occasional kiwi and morepork calls at night.

Beside wooden verandah/decks, is a gently sloped garden path, down to the beach, edged with a small orchard of fig trees, palms, guava shrubs, lemon and lime trees, bananas and vegetable patch.

The neighbourhood is quiet with only a few tractors/boats passing on the road to the beach, plus the occasional local or tramper. Close to the main NZ-wide Te Araroa Trail, and several other more local trails, it's a perfect iconic NZ spot!

This property is ideally suited for the relaxing type of holiday, whether it be lounging on the deck, enjoying the view, fishing from the rocks or your boat, or taking a cool swim in the cool clear waters. If you have kayaks, they can be easily launched from the back garden. For the more energetic, there are numerous walking trails, all with outstanding marine views. Snorkeling in the adjacent marine reserve is a delight not to be missed.

A very special opportunity which happens occasionally, is to be involved with the local Kiwi Release Programme. A hugely successful programme resulting in increasing our local Kiwi population by about 800% in the last four years.

A short drive away are more harbour and ocean beaches, retail shops and restaurants.
