Breathtaking 180º views of the wild West Coast! With te tūtū/the full tide lapping at your feet, you can't get any closer to the beautiful Tasman Sea. This is an authentic, rustic Kiwi bach. Largely unchanged since mid-last century, the bach is loaded with character and quirky features.
Free WiFi (unlimited & fast) there is also 4G mobile reception.

The space
A log-burning fire will keep you toasty warm in winter, dry firewood is provided during winter months, and an electric heater all year round - just in case. Te Tūtū Bach is one of just three small holiday baches sharing this amazing location perched on the edge of the wild West Coast wilderness.

HELP SAVE THE PENGUINS - A portion of every booking from our six West Coast baches is donated to the West Coast Penguin Trust. $13,686.00 has been donated so far (as of Dec 2025). The penguins thank you!

Where you’ll be

Punakaiki, West Coast, New Zealand

Located just above the high tide mark, this bach enjoys stunning 180-degree views of the coast. At low tide, you can walk for kilometres along the beach, at high tide watch big waves crashing at your feet. Equally satisfying during a sunny blue-sky day or during a famous wild West Coast storm! The location is remote and wild.

My work: Property Manager
Kia ora, I’m Daniel - I live in Auckland with my partner Iván. I am a commercial property manager for Auckland City, a job I love - but my real passion is our beach baches. It's a pleasure to share these special places with guests from NZ and all corners of the world. For a true Kiwi experience, be sure to check out all six of our West Coast baches. If you're passing through Auckland, stay with us in Pt Chev... Everyone is welcome!
